⚖️ Handling Player Disputes

Disputes Happen! While it's true this is just an online game, the characters are controlled by a very real human with very real feelings. We all come from many different cultures, traditions, social beliefs, personalities and more; there's bound to be conflict. Conflicts tend to grow into bigger problems if not dealt with at the start.

While the admins shouldn't be expected to handle every disagreement or dispute, there is a system in place to enable you, the player, to deal with such situations effectively.

🛡️ Your Tools for Managing Conflict

XenoSO provides two main systems to help you deal with problematic players:

1. Ignore Function

When you ignore a player, their chat messages become invisible to you everywhere in the game. You won't see what they say in any chat box, and the system won't send you to the same job lot as them. It's a clean break from their communication.

2. Ban Function

This works exclusively on properties where you live. The property owner must have the ban list enabled in house permissions for this to work. Once banned, that player cannot enter your lot again.

📋 How to Ignore or Ban Players

Ignoring a Player

  1. Open their Sim Page
  2. Click "Expand"
  3. Navigate to the "Sim Permission Options" tab
  4. Check the box next to "Ignore This Sim"

Once ignored, you won't see any property chat from this player, and they can't send you private messages. Check your ignore list by clicking the bookmarks button in the UCP, then selecting the "Ignore List" tab.

Banning from Your Property

  1. Follow the same steps as ignoring
  2. Check the "Add To Your Property Ban List" box
  3. If they're currently on your lot, click on their Sim
  4. Select "Transactions""Kick Out Visitor" to remove them immediately

⚠️ Important: The property owner must set the lot admit mode to "Ban List" for any property bans to actually take effect. Without this setting enabled, banned players can still enter.

🔒 Privacy Features

Tired of players following you from property to property? Use the "Where Am I?" privacy feature to prevent others from tracking your location.

To enable: Open your own Sim Page and click the lock button. This hides your current location from other players.

🚨 When to Contact Staff

While you can handle most disputes independently, certain situations require admin intervention. Report these issues immediately to XenoSO staff through Discord with supporting screenshots:

⛔ Ban Evasion

If a player creates or switches to another Sim to bypass your ban and gain entry to your lot, this violates XenoSO rules. Include a screenshot showing the player entering your property after being banned, plus any relevant chat messages.

⛔ Racism & Hate Speech

XenoSO has zero tolerance for racism, hate speech, or discriminatory language of any kind. Report this behavior immediately with a screenshot of the offending chat. This is taken very seriously and action will be swift.

⛔ Harassment & Threats

Continued harassment after being asked to stop, threats of violence, doxxing attempts, or stalking behavior should be reported immediately with screenshots and context.

⛔ Scamming & Fraud

If someone scams you in a trade or fraudulently takes your Simoleons/items, report with screenshots of the agreement and what happened.

⛔ Griefing & Property Destruction

Intentional destruction of property, sabotaging lots, or malicious behavior designed to ruin gameplay should be documented and reported.

💡 Best Practices

  • Address conflicts early before they escalate into bigger problems
  • Use the ignore function liberally if someone's bothering you - your peace of mind matters
  • Keep your property ban list updated to maintain a positive environment
  • Document problematic behavior with screenshots in case you need to report it
  • Remember that different communication styles exist - not every disagreement needs admin intervention
  • Enable privacy settings if you prefer playing without being tracked

🤝 Creating Positive Spaces

Managing disputes effectively helps create welcoming environments for everyone. By using these tools proactively, you can maintain the atmosphere you want on your properties while keeping drama to a minimum. Don't hesitate to protect your gaming experience - that's exactly what these systems are designed for!
