💎 Crystal Crafting
Overview
Crystal crafting in XenoSO is an advanced magical crafting system that enables players to create seven different types of unrefined crystals using the Crystal Crafting Table. The system incorporates multiple skill requirements, mood-based success modifiers, and time-of-day mechanics to determine crafting outcomes. Successfully crafted crystals are randomly selected from seven possible varieties, each with distinct rarity probabilities.
The crafting process requires significant investment in both materials and skill development, with success rates varying substantially based on skill levels and environmental conditions.
Crystal Crafting Table
The Crystal Crafting Table is the specialized equipment required for crystal production. This advanced crafting station must be purchased before any crystal crafting attempts can be made.
Purchase Information
- Available From: Buy Mode > Skills and Job Objects category
- Price: $50,000
- Capacity: Can produce 7 different unrefined crystal types
Crafting Requirements
Material Cost
Each crystal crafting attempt requires the following resources:
| Resource | Quantity | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Magic Coins | 100 coins | Magic Town Center |
| Simoleons | $7,500 | Per crafting attempt |
Mood Optimization
Mood meters significantly influence crafting success probability. For optimal results, all needs should be maintained at maximum levels (white overfilled status). Whilst the rate of success does not increase the higher the mood, there is a check for how high the mood is and whether the craft succeeds or fails entirely.
Skill Requirements
Minimum Skill Threshold
Critical: The following minimum skill levels are mandatory for any crafting attempt. Failure to meet these requirements results in automatic crafting failure:
- Mechanical: Level 10 minimum
- Creativity: Level 10 minimum
- Logic: Level 10 minimum
Enhanced Skill Threshold
Achieving higher skill levels substantially increases success probability. The enhanced threshold provides significant bonuses:
- Mechanical: Level 19+
- Creativity: Level 19+
- Logic: Level 19+
Note: Skill levels above 19 provide no additional benefit. The system only evaluates minimum (10) and enhanced (19+) thresholds.
Success Rate Modifiers
After passing the minimum skill requirement check, the crafting success probability is determined by a combination of skill threshold achievement and time-of-day conditions.
Optimal Crafting Window
Time of day significantly affects success rates. The optimal crafting period is between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM (in-game time).
Success Probability Table
| Skill Level | Time Condition | Success Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum (10-18) | Optimal Window (6 AM - 10 AM) | 20% |
| Minimum (10-18) | Outside Optimal Window | 15% |
| Enhanced (19+) | Optimal Window (6 AM - 10 AM) | 50% |
| Enhanced (19+) | Outside Optimal Window | 35% |
These success rates represent the probability of successfully completing the craft. Upon success, the crystal types are randomly determined according to the rarity distribution detailed below.
Crystal Type Probabilities
When crystals are successfully crafted, the specific crystal types are determined through a random number generation system (0-10000 range). Each crystal type has a fixed probability of occurrence:
| Item | Name | Roll Range | Probability |
|---|---|---|---|
| White Unrefined Crystal | 0 - 4500 | 45.00% | |
| Yellow Unrefined Crystal | 4501 - 5900 | 13.99% | |
| Blue Unrefined Crystal | 5901 - 8000 | 20.99% | |
| Black Unrefined Crystal | 8001 - 8800 | 8.00% | |
| Red Unrefined Crystal | 8801 - 9350 | 5.50% | |
| Green Unrefined Crystal | 9351 - 9700 | 3.50% | |
| Purple Unrefined Crystal | 9701 - 10000 | 3.00% |
Rarity Analysis: The White Unrefined Crystal represents the most common outcome at 45.00%, making it nearly half of all successful crafts. Blue Unrefined Crystals follow at 20.99%, while Yellow crystals appear at 13.99%. The rarer crystals include Black (8.00%), Red (5.50%), Green (3.50%), and the extremely rare Purple Unrefined Crystal at just 3.00%.
Crystal Refining
Unrefined crystals can be refined into their pure forms by clicking directly on the crystal object in the game world. The refining process is purely based on magical energy and does not require the Crystal Crafting Table. The success rate for refining varies based on the rarity of the unrefined crystal being processed.
Refining Requirements
- Wand Charge Cost: 500 charge per refining attempt
- Skill Requirements: None - refining is based purely on chance
- Mood Check: None - mood has no effect on refining success
- Method: Click directly on the unrefined crystal item
Refining Success Rates
The probability of successfully refining a crystal decreases as the crystal's rarity increases. These are flat success rates that cannot be improved through skills or mood:
| Unrefined Crystal | Base Rarity | Refining Success Rate |
|---|---|---|
| White Unrefined Crystal | 45.00% | 70% |
| Yellow Unrefined Crystal | 13.99% | 60% |
| Blue Unrefined Crystal | 20.99% | 50% |
| Black Unrefined Crystal | 8.00% | 40% |
| Red Unrefined Crystal | 5.50% | 30% |
| Green Unrefined Crystal | 3.50% | 20% |
| Purple Unrefined Crystal | 3.00% | 10% |
Refining Strategy: The flat success rates create a risk-reward dynamic. Common White crystals refine easily at 70% success, while the extremely rare Purple crystals have only a 10% chance of successful refinement. These rates cannot be improved through any means - they are fixed probabilities based solely on crystal type.
Failed Refinement
When a refining attempt fails, the unrefined crystal is destroyed and produces a Broken Crystal instead. Broken Crystals have no direct use but can be collected and recycled through the crystal recycling system.
Refined Crystal Abilities
Successfully refined crystals transform from "Unrefined" to "Magical" crystals (e.g., White Unrefined Crystal becomes White Magical Crystal). Each magical crystal possesses unique abilities and can be charged with wand energy for repeated use. All crystals are owner-only items and share a unified charge system.
Universal Crystal Mechanics
- Charging Cost: 500 wand charge per crystal (regardless of type)
- Owner Restriction: Crystals can only be used by the player who refined them
- Shared Charge System: Using a crystal decreases charge across all crystals of the same color owned by the player
- Recharging: Crystals can be recharged unlimited times after depleting their uses
- Visual Indicators: Crystals have three size states (Large, Medium, Small) that change as uses are consumed, with audio cues when transitioning between sizes
White Magical Crystal - Levitation
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Total Uses | 20 uses |
| Ability | Grants levitation to the owner |
| Size Transitions | Large → Medium (at 10 uses remaining) → Small (near depletion) |
The White Magical Crystal allows the owner to levitate, providing unique mobility. The crystal visually shrinks as it's used, transitioning to medium size at the halfway point (10 uses) with an audible sound cue.
Yellow Magical Crystal - Blessing of Wealth
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Total Uses | 10 uses |
| Ability | Request a Blessing of Wealth |
| Primary Reward (80%) | $1 - $350 direct Simoleons |
| Object Reward (20%) | Gems, Coins, or Magic Coins object (owner-bound) |
Reward Distribution: 800 in 1000 attempts (80%) grant direct Simoleons ranging from $1 to $350. The remaining 200 in 1000 (20%) spawn a physical object (Gems, Coins, or Magic Coins) near the crystal. These objects are bound to the owner and cannot be traded.
Blue Magical Crystal - Need Redistribution
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Total Uses | 10 uses |
| Ability | Drains owner's needs to boost all Sims on property |
| Effect | Distributes drained needs to all Sims on the same property |
The Blue Crystal creates a communal benefit by sacrificing the owner's needs. A large portion of the owner's need meters is drained and redistributed to all Sims present on the property. The specific needs affected vary for each recipient, creating unpredictable but helpful support for others.
Black Magical Crystal - Fire Extinguishing
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Total Uses | 10 uses |
| Ability | Cast Magic Extinguish on any fire within property |
| Range | Entire property boundaries |
The Black Crystal provides powerful fire safety capabilities, allowing the owner to extinguish any fire anywhere on their property through magical means, without needing to be near the fire itself.
Red Magical Crystal - Flame Spawning
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Total Uses | 10 uses |
| Ability | Spawn a flame with unpredictable targeting |
| Warning | May target the caster or a random Sim |
Danger: The Red Crystal is highly unpredictable and potentially hazardous. When activated, it spawns a flame that may target either the caster themselves or a random Sim in the area. Exercise extreme caution when using this crystal.
Green Magical Crystal - Blessing of Nature
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Total Uses | 10 uses |
| Ability | Grants a Blessing of Nature reward |
Nature Blessing Rewards:
| Item | Probability | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Wild Flowers (Plant) | 70% | Tradeable outdoor plant |
| Red Mushrooms | 15% | Tradeable decorative item |
| Unrefined Pixie Dust | 10% | Owner-bound, not tradeable |
| White Toadstools | 5% | Owner-bound, spoils after 24 hours |
The Green Crystal provides magical crafting ingredients and decorative items. White Toadstools are particularly valuable but time-sensitive, spoiling after 24 hours. Both Unrefined Pixie Dust and White Toadstools are bound to the owner and cannot be traded.
Ingredient Conversion:
- Unrefined Pixie Dust: 8 units can be bartered with Mara Faerie Queen NPC for 1 Pixie Dust spell ingredient
- White Toadstools: Can be harvested for 1 Toadstool spell ingredient (harvest before the 24-hour spoilage timer)
Purple Magical Crystal - Property Teleportation
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Total Uses | 20 uses |
| Ability | Teleport anywhere within the owner's property |
| Range | Limited to current property boundaries |
The Purple Crystal grants exceptional mobility, allowing instant teleportation to any location within the owner's current property. This is particularly valuable for large properties or quick navigation during events.
Broken Crystal Recycling
Broken Crystals resulting from failed refinement attempts can be recycled at the Crystal Crafting Table. This system provides a way to recover value from failed refining attempts by converting broken crystals back into usable unrefined crystals.
Recycling Process
| Requirement | Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Broken Crystals Required | 10 units | Must have exactly 10 to recycle |
| Simoleons Cost | $3,750 | Half the cost of normal crafting |
| Skill Requirement | Level 10 minimum (all three skills) | Enhanced skills provide no bonus |
| Success Rate | 100% | Guaranteed success - no mood check |
| Output | 1 Random Unrefined Crystal | Follows standard probability distribution |
Key Features: Unlike normal crafting and refining, the recycling process has no mood requirements and guarantees success as long as minimum skill levels are met. The resulting unrefined crystal follows the same probability distribution as standard crafting, meaning there is a 45% chance of receiving a White crystal, 20.99% for Blue, and so on.
Economic Analysis: Recycling provides a cost-effective way to convert failed refinement attempts into new opportunities. At $3,750 per recycling (half the normal crafting cost), players can recover some value from their broken crystals, though the random nature of the output means results will vary.
Crafting Strategy
- Skill Development: Prioritize training all three required skills (Mechanical, Creativity, Logic) to level 19 or higher for maximum success rates
- Time Management: Schedule crafting sessions during the optimal 6 AM - 10 AM window for significantly improved success probability
- Mood Maintenance: Ensure all needs are maximally satisfied (white overfilled) before attempting crafts (mood does not affect refining)
- Resource Planning: Maintain adequate supplies of Magic Coins and Simoleons, as each attempt consumes 100 Magic Coins and $7,500
- Cost Analysis: At enhanced skill levels during optimal hours, the effective cost per successful craft is approximately $15,000 (50% success rate), yielding 7 unrefined crystals per success
- Magic Coin Acquisition: Build a steady supply of Magic Coins through Magic Town Center before attempting extensive crystal crafting sessions
- Wand Charge Management: Stock up on wand charge (500 per refining attempt, 500 to charge each crystal) before attempting to refine multiple crystals - refining has no skill or mood requirements
- Refining Priority: Consider refining common crystals (White, Yellow, Blue) first due to their higher success rates (70%, 60%, 50%) before attempting rare crystal refinement
- Broken Crystal Collection: Save all Broken Crystals from failed refinements - every 10 can be recycled for $3,750 to guarantee a new unrefined crystal
- Crystal Usage Strategy: Remember that crystals of the same color share a unified charge system - using one white crystal decreases charge across all your white crystals, so plan usage carefully
- Ability Prioritization: White and Purple crystals offer 20 uses each compared to 10 for others, making them more efficient for frequent abilities like levitation and teleportation
- Time-Sensitive Items: If using Green crystals, be aware that White Toadstools spoil after 24 hours - harvest them for Toadstool spell ingredient before they spoil
- Risk Management: Exercise caution with Red crystals due to their unpredictable flame targeting - ensure fire safety measures are in place
- Rarity Targeting: The random crystal distribution cannot be manipulated; all successful crafts and recycling follow the fixed probability table
- Initial Investment: Budget $50,000 for the Crystal Crafting Table itself, plus operational costs for crafting attempts
